1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how the E-Diary iOS app (“E-Diary,” “the app,” “we,” or “us”), developed by Daniel Illescas Romero, handles information when you use the app on iPhone or iPad.
E-Diary is a personal diary app. There is no developer-operated account system and no custom backend server that collects your journal content.
2. Summary
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not use third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs.
- We do not operate a backend server that stores your diary entries.
- Your diary content is stored on your device and may sync to your iCloud account via Apple CloudKit when you leave iCloud sync enabled.
3. Information we handle
Depending on how you use the app, the following may be stored or accessed on your device (and, if iCloud sync is on, in your iCloud):
- Diary content you create — text entries, photos or images you add, mood indicators, favorites/bookmarks, and related dates.
- App preferences — settings such as themes, fonts, lock mode, reminder preferences, selected calendar identifiers, and purchase entitlement flags stored locally.
- Calendar events — if you grant calendar access, the app can show or create events in the system Calendar app (those events live in Apple’s Calendar / your calendar accounts, not on a developer server).
- Purchase status — entitlements for optional in-app purchases and subscriptions are managed through Apple StoreKit / your Apple ID.
- Optional local logs — diagnostic logs may be written on your device. They are only sent to us if you choose to attach them when emailing feedback.
We do not collect Health data, precise location, or advertising identifiers.
4. How data is stored
Diary entries and related content are stored locally using Apple’s Core Data framework.
When iCloud sync is enabled (the default), the app uses CloudKit with your Apple ID so your diary can sync across your devices signed into the same iCloud account. Sync uses Apple’s infrastructure under Apple’s terms and privacy practices for iCloud.
You can turn iCloud sync off in the app’s settings (a restart may be required). When sync is off, content remains on the device only.
There is no separate developer-run database of your journal.
5. On-device processing
Some features process text on your device using Apple frameworks:
- Automatic mood detection — uses on-device Natural Language APIs.
- Writing Assist — uses on-device Apple intelligence / language model features where available; content is not sent to a developer server for this feature.
System Writing Tools provided by iOS may also be available in the text editor, subject to Apple’s own behavior and policies.
6. Permissions
E-Diary may ask for the following permissions so features work as intended:
- Camera — to take a photo for a diary entry.
- Photos — to add images to entries or save images from the app.
- Calendars — to show or create calendar events alongside diary pages.
- Face ID / device authentication — only if you enable optional lock mode, to unlock the app.
You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Denying a permission disables the related feature; the rest of the app continues to work.
7. What we don’t do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads in the app.
- We do not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- We do not run a custom backend that uploads or stores your diary text or images.
8. In-app purchases & subscriptions
E-Diary offers optional paid features through Apple’s App Store, including:
- Pro+ — available as auto-renewable subscriptions (for example monthly or yearly) or as a lifetime purchase.
- Individual unlocks — optional one-time in-app purchases for specific features or cosmetics (such as themes or icon packs).
Payment processing, billing, receipts, and subscription management are handled by Apple through StoreKit and your Apple ID. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.
Subscription terms of use are governed by Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement:
Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA)
You can view, manage, or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iOS), or as described by Apple for your region.
10. Your choices
- Turn off iCloud sync in the app settings.
- Export diary pages (for example TXT, RTF, HTML, or PDF) from the app.
- Delete all diary content from Settings in the app.
- Delete the app to remove local data on that device (iCloud copies, if any, follow Apple’s iCloud deletion and retention behavior).
- Manage or cancel subscriptions via your Apple ID settings.
- Contact us with privacy questions using the email below.
11. Children
E-Diary is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that concerns you, please contact us.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the app after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
